Vascular plants

Since the retirement of Prof. Philippi in 2003, the curator of vascular plants' position has been vacant at the Natural History Museum. Therefore, the primary task is the conservation of the collection. Additional incoming specimens are fit to cardboard and are databased.

The collection's geographical focus was Southwestern Germany. The book "Die Blütenpflanzen Baden-Württembergs" (“The flowering plants of Baden-Württemberg”) was a joint project with the Natural History Museum in Stuttgart and partly relied on the data of our collection.

The herbarium of vascular plants has always been seen as a regional voucher- collection and currently comprises ca. 240.000 specimens.
