PLANET 3.0 - CLIMATE.LIFE.FUTURE

18.7.2019 - 3.5.2020

This exhibition presents the Earth as a living entity with a dynamic past. Ancient environments provided life with opportunities and challenges. Now, System Earth is altered by the human footprint. What will the future bring?
Planet Earth is born 4.5 billion years ago, forged in a cloud of super-heated dust and gas orbiting a young star. Conditions on this world allow life to emerge, but the Earth is constantly changing.
To survive, its life-forms must adapt.

HIGHLIGHTS OF EARTH HISTORY

Visit seven installations to explore the perpetual shift of continents, oceans and climate that define Earth history. A planet once devoid of life incubates simple organisms that explode into a stunning array of plants and animals that occupy every habitat. Life survives five mortal events, managing to endure, adapt and evolve.

SYSTEM EARTH TODAY

Experience a multimedia presentation of environmental phenomena and observe System Earth in action. Get an insider’s view as scientists examine the confluence of sun, air, water, weather, tectonics, volcanism, plants, animals and humans – all the forces that shape this planet.

RSEARCH FOR THE FUTURE

Societies prefer stable environments, but System Earth now supports seven billion humans. Must we prepare for massive environmental change? Seven interactive displays present state-of-theart research on climate and biodiversity, offering solutions to a pressing challenge. Can we avoid crashing System Earth? We need an upgrade to Planet 3.0.
