  • Feast of the Epiphany (6 Jan), Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Easter Monday, Labour Day (1 May), Ascension, Whitsun Monday, Corpus Christi, Day of German Unity (3 October), All Saints (1 November): 10 am - 6 pm
  • Christmas Eve (24 Dec), Christmas Day (25 Dec), New Year's Eve (31 Dec), New Year's Day (1 Jan), Shrove Tuesday: closed

Admission prices permanent exhibitions

Permanent exhibitions and small temporary exhibitions:

  • Adults: € 5.00
  • Concessions: € 3.00
  • Family ticket: € 10.00
  • Children and adolescents under 18: free
  • Museums-Pass-Musées holders: free
  • ICOM Members: free
  • Annual pass, adults: €18.00
  • Annual pass, concessions: €14.00
  • School groups (including accompanying adults): € 1.00 per person
     
  • Discounted admssion for SWR2 Kulturkarte and GEOCard holders
  • Free admission on Friday afternoons 1 pm - 5 pm to the permanent exhibitions and smaller special exhibitions (excepting bank holidays)

     
  • Discounted admssion to both permanent and temporary exhibitions for Ehrenamtskarte holders

     

 

 

Accessibility

The museum is fully wheelchair accessible. A lift is available for access to all exhibitions.
Wheelchair-accessible toilets and baby-changing facilities are situated on the ground floor.

Taking photographs and filming

You may only take photographs or film for non-commercial purposes (no flashes permitted when photographing aquariums and terrariums). You must obtain permission in advance for the use of tripods. Commercial use of photographic material of any kind is subject to written permission.

 

Museum rules for your visit

Welcome!

We want everyone to enjoy their visit – please abide by the following regulations:

• Please show consideration for other visitors and respect any instructions given by our staff.
• Please do not act in any way which might damage or endanger exhibits ordisplay facilities.
• Large bags, rucksacks and other bulky items must be left in the lockers provided.
• Dogs are not permitted in the museum (excepting assistance dogs).
• Smoking is not permitted in the museum.
• Refreshments can be purchased in the café located in the museum shop. For those of our visitors who wish to bring their own food and drink we have provided tables and chairs opposite the musumssshop.
• Children must not be left unattended anywhere in the museum.
