Diploma in biology at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (Main focus: zoology, minor fields: genetics, paleontology), thesis: "Investigations of internal anatomy of  Hackeriella veitchi (Hemiptera: Coleorrhyncha: Peloridiidae) pertaining to some newly discovered behavioural traits"

At the moment work on PhD thesis "Inter- and infraspecific variability of systematically relevant traits in the family Peloridiidae (Insecta: Hemiptera) on the example of the genera Hemiodoecus and Xenophyes"

Activities at  the SMNK:

  • Ordering/cataloguing of the swallowtail collection (Lepidoptera: Papilionidae)
  • Ordering/cataloguing of the Hemiptera collection (true bugs, cicadas, hoppers)

Research interests:

  • Entomology (especially Hemiptera), biodiversity, biogeography, evolution, systematics and taxonomy of insects
  • Bioacoustics, behavioural biology of insects
  • Evolutionary relationships between herbivore insects and their host plants, especially bryophytes
  • History of biology
