The Geology, Mineralogy and Sedimentology section offers the following services:

• Identification of rocks and minerals for private persons, authorities, institutions, customs and police. Commercial and private assessments and appraisals are not provided.

• Advisory on the preparation and preservation of rocks and minerals for private persons and institutions.

• Examination of field discoveries and potential recovery of the find.

• Loan of rocks and minerals for exhibitions held by official institutions. Loans forprivate-sector and commercial exhibitions and displays are subject to a fee. Type material is not available for loan.
