The Höwenegg Antelope Miotragocerus

Following the primary focus of the project on the recovery of skeletons in previous years, we now increasingly aim at the scientific study of the collected material. This is of particular importance concerning the Höwenegg antelope Miotragocerus, since skeletons of this species are present in unique completeness and abundance at Höwenegg, but were scientifically largely neglected in the past. Within the framework of this project the anatomy and condition of preservation of four already prepared antelope skeletons are to be described; the results of this work will eventually be used for the reconstruction of the paleoecology of the site.
