160 Carolinea 77 (2019) somewhat shorter (tritonymph 77 µm) than the smooth setae la (tritonymph 102 µm). Larval lamellar setae relatively much more laterally in- serted than those of nymphs. The ratio of the di- stance of the insertion points of the setal pairs le-le : ro-ro: is 2,5:1 in the larva and roughly 1:1 in the tritonymph. Notogaster (Figs 8, 10, 11, 13) Larval setation unideficient, with 12 pairs of no- togastral setae which reveal a considerable vari- ety in size and form. Setae c1 (181 µm), c2 (165 µm), da (206 µm), dm (185 µm), lp (201µm) and dp (220 µm) are thick, elongate, dark in colour, barbed and with flagellate tips which are fre- quently broken off. Setae c3 (23 µm), la (30 µm) and lm (28 µm) differ from these in being thinner, shorter, not displaying distinct flagellate tips, in missing barbs and in that they insert on consi- derably smaller setal sclerites which are set on apophyses. They share the dark brown colour of the former. Setae h1 (100 µm), h2 (38 µm) are smooth and thin with h3 (12 µm) being minute, without barbs and very slender. The nymphal setation contrasts to that of the lar- va in that it is quadrideficient with the pseudanal setae ps1, ps2 and ps3 present and the three dorsocentral setae not being developed instead. In addition, setae la and lm are very much longer and seta lp shorter relative to the body length in the nymphal stages than in the larva. Nymphal setae c1, c2, la, lm are thick, elongate, dark co- loured with a hyaline base, minutely barbed and with flagellate tips.
